We created One for the Road 1776’ in response to the Trump Presidency and Administration. After assuming office, we saw, as did millions of others, that he was going to challenge the Constitution and government norms and traditions. Consequently, we decided to add our voices, as is the right and privilege of all Americans, to protest these decisions.
All three of us are of one mind in respect to the substack’s primary goals. But, as individuals, we may have different approaches as to how we address them. For example, we share information about the topics we’re writing about to avoid bumping into each other as we post these pieces. But we don’t review or edit each other’s works. They’re individual creations.
Guest writers may also be invited to publish on One for the Road 1776, and these individuals have the same freedom to address subjects as they will. In one case, a post may be written to support Trump policies. The only review, on our part, would be to ensure the post meets generally accepted news and opinion writing guidelines—e.g., avoiding ad hominem attacks. So, contributors will have the freedom to write and will assume the responsibility for their own works.
Finally, readers’ comments may be edited for length and should meet the same publishing criteria. As is the case with posts written by guest writers, we don’t assume responsibility for their content and reserve the right to remove them per our stated stipulations.
